Redemption is a guild made up of mature, competent players who know how to have fun and work as a team. 

History – started in May, 2006 by Xantus and Gith.  They decided to start their own guild after being members of other guilds but not finding the kind of atmosphere and camaraderie for which they were searching.  At its one year anniversary, Redemption had over 185 members with over 800 characters.  Although growth has never been our objective, we are the largest guild on the Aerenal server.  We have booted one person in the history of the guild and four other guilds have been launched by former Redemption members. 

Officers – currently there are nine officers, each with multiple characters serving as officers.  The officer’s primary roles are to ensure that the core values of the guild are upheld and to help improve the gaming experience for guild members.  We are in the process of selecting an additional officer. 

Core values – There are two primary values that the guild holds as requirements for membership. 

1. Maturity – we will not be a frat-house.  Although many of us are adults and will share adult humor, we will have an environment where people can feel comfortable playing with their guildmates.  We will not swear at each other.  There will not be “F-bombs” in the guild chat.  We will not be drunk or stoned online.  We will treat each other with respect (teasing is welcome).  The Golden Rule applies.
2. We will work as a team – what is good for the guild is good for each member.  We will help each other even at our own expense.  When someone types in guild chat that they need help with a quest, or are looking for an answer to a question, or are looking for an item, we will be there to help them.  We do expect our members to help whenever they can and ask for help when they need it.  We love to teach and help our members meet their gaming objectives.

Our Reputation – We do not actively recruit.  People come to us asking to join Redemption because of the quality of people they meet while playing with our members.  As such, we expect our members to represent the guild well when they are in pick-up groups.  We do not expect people to drop a pick-up group to come help the guild and will never ask anyone to do that.  We have a number of families in the guild and are not ashamed when we are described as family-oriented.  We are also fine with being known as a teaching guild rather than a hard-core raid guild.  We pride ourselves more on the quality of our people than the number of 6 items each member owns. 

Banks – we have a guild bank named ‘Thebank’.  This character holds guild items, raid equipment, and money.  Donations of plat or items are appreciated but not required and please do not donate items unless you are relatively sure that someone else will be able to use them.  Periodically, we will schedule an ‘Item Giveaway’ to allow everyone to share items they have saved and don’t need and to empty the guild banks. 

Improvement – we are not perfect.  We want feedback on how to make things better.  We want both ideas and complaints because we cannot make it better if we don’t know it’s broke. Everyone has a voice in our guild – please feel free to use it. 

A final note – Now speaking for myself, I am very proud of this guild and what it has become.  I am grateful for the sharing, support, teaching, laughter, sacrifice and respect that I see every time I log on.  Our guild is great because it is made up of great people that want to help each other.  That is what sets us apart from other guilds.
